The Darksign signifies an accursed Undead.
Those branded with it are reborn after death,
but will one day lose their mind and go Hollow.
Death triggers the Darksign,
which returns its bearer to the last bonfire
rested at, but at the cost of all humanity and souls.
Given to the player at the start of the game
Returns you to the last bonfire where you rested at, with all souls and humanities collected forfeited which cannot be reclaimed
- Although the description claims death triggers the Darksign, intentional usage of the Darksign will not leave a bloodstain
- In general, it is not advantageous to use this item. To return to a bonfire it is better to use a Homeward Bone or Homeward miracle, or simply die in order to leave a retrievable bloodstain.
- It has its use, but only if you're out of Homeward Bone or didn't/can't attune Homeward: if you have a valuable bloodstain out in the world and you are in danger, using the Darksign will allow you to teleport back to the bonfire and leave the old bloodstain intact.
- If there is a glitch such that your character is somehow stuck and cannot Homeward, this item could get you unstuck.
