Gifts

Gifts are items that a player can choose from to begin the game with. All gifts are obtainable through the game. Many of the items have a limited number of uses.

Image Gift Description
binoculars.png Binoculars Binoculars. Use to peer at faraway sights.

Not recommended because it can be found in the graveyard of the Firelink Shrine, the starting area.
black-firebomb.png Black Firebomb Explodes upon impact when thrown. More deadly than a standard firebomb.

Character starts with 10 black firebombs if chosen.

This gift is usually chosen to obtain the Demon's Great Hammer at the start of the game.
divine-blessing.png Divine blessing Divine holy water. Fully restores HP and removes negative status effects.

Can be found in various places and sold by several merchants in the game. Doesn't remove Cursed status.
master-key.png Master Key Opens any basic lock. Initial equipment for a Thief.

Opens a few shortcuts to access powerful items early in the game, also allows for skipping certain areas by said shortcuts.

This item is not recommended for beginners that want to experience intended play.

The key can be obtained from Domhnall of Zena after he relocates to under the bridge at Firelink Shrine, after ringing both Bells of Awakening.
old-witch-s-ring.png Old Witch's Ring Gift from a witch.

Enables talking to Quelaag's Sister. This is just story dialogue and has nothing to do with accessing the Chaos Servant covenant.

This ring can also be obtained by trading Sunlight Maggot with Snuggly the Crow.
pendant.png Pendant Trinket. No effect, but fond memories comfort travelers.

This item can be used to trade with Snuggly the Crow for Souvenir of Reprisal.

Can be obtained by following Rhea of Thorolund's storyline and has a rare chance of being given after killing a human after being summoned by Alvina (with Cat Covenant Ring) as a member of the Forest Hunter covenant.
tiny-being-s-ring.png Tiny Being's Ring Special tribal ring.

Grants 5% maximum HP boost. The Gift menu during character creation erroneously claims that it recovers HP.

For those with the Master Key, The Ring of Favor and Protection, as well as Havel's Ring are both accessible early-game with far more significant benefits.

Given as a reward from Siegmeyer of Catarina in Anor Londo.
twin-humanities.png Twin Humanities Tiny sprite called humanity. Sometimes found on carcasses.

Can be found in the Undead Burg and used by the player (to become human and kindle bonfires) or traded with Snuggly the Crow for a Rare Ring of Sacrifice.

Recommendations

  • Master Key: The single most important gift for advanced players as it allows for massive sequence breaking, gaining access to advanced items and NPC services early in the game, even skipping entire areas and bosses. See its page for details.
  • Black Firebomb: A good choice for killing both the Asylum Demon and Taurus Demon quickly, killing the Asylum Demon on the first encounter (entering from the main entrance of the church, not jumping down on him) will reward the Demon's Great Hammer. Keep in mind that you won't be able to wield the hammer until much later, due to the high strength requirement.
